How do I connect to my Project Zomboid server?
How to join your Project Zomboid server with its address and port, and where to find the admin and server password.
By Hermie Updated
You join your Project Zomboid server with your server's address and port. The admin account is in the game panel under Startup; you set a password to join in the server's configuration file.
Find your address and port
- Log in to the game panel and open your server.
- Go to Network. It shows your server's address (Hostname) and Port. The same details are also on your service in the client portal.
- Make sure your server is running. If it's off, click Start in the Console.
Extra ports
Besides the main port, your server has an extra port for Steam (STEAM_PORT). They are already set up; you don't need to do anything with them.
Join in Project Zomboid
- Start Project Zomboid and choose Join.
- Enter the address and port from Network.
- Choose a username and password for your account on this server, and click Join Server.
Admin account
In the game panel under Startup you'll find ADMIN_USER (admin by default) and ADMIN_PASSWORD. The password was filled in at random when your server was created. You log in with this account to manage the server.
A password to join
A join password isn't under Startup. You set it in your server's ini file: .cache/Server/<SERVER_NAME>.ini, where <SERVER_NAME> is the value of the SERVER_NAME variable under Startup. By default that's .cache/Server/Pterodactyl.ini. The .cache folder starts with a dot, but it shows up in the list in Files as usual.
- Stop your server.
- Open the ini file through Files and find the
Password=line. - Enter the password after the
=sign and save the file. - Start your server.
Don't change SERVER_NAME lightly
If you change SERVER_NAME under Startup, the server creates a new ini file and a new world.
Not working?
Check in the Console that the server has fully started and that you use the port from Network. If it still doesn't work, open a ticket with your server's name and the message you see in the game.
