High-frequency

Speed per core, not per socket

A lot of software does not scale across dozens of cores. A Minecraft server, a build that runs step after step, a database handling one heavy query: they benefit from one core that is as fast as possible. That is what high-frequency servers are for. We build them on AMD Ryzen, with high boost clocks, fast DDR4 memory and NVMe storage.

As bare metal you get that speed without neighbours: no other customer wanting the same core at the same moment. With IPMI access and your own choice of operating system.

Why high-frequency

Where a high-frequency server makes the difference

Five reasons to pick clock speed over core count.

  • High boost clock. Every core does more work per second; you notice it immediately in single-threaded software.
  • Game servers. Minecraft, Hytale and most game servers run their main loop on one thread. This is where it ticks fastest.
  • NVMe storage. Short load times and fast databases, with no queue at the disk.
  • Upgradable. Adding memory or storage is possible on most configurations.
  • Bare metal. The whole processor is yours: no shared cores, no fluctuating performance.

Standard configurations

The configurations below are a starting point. More memory, different storage, a faster uplink or another operating system: every server can be adjusted.

What every dedicated server comes with

Dutch data centres

Your server lives at BIT in Ede or Greenhouse in Naaldwijk. You choose.

Our own network

Traffic over our own AS211588, with a core at two Amsterdam sites and connections to more than 600 networks.

Full control

IPMI access, root and your own ISO. Windows or Linux, you decide what runs on it.

Direct contact with engineers

No call centre. You talk to the people who manage the network and the servers themselves.

Frequently asked questions about high-frequency servers

When your software does not scale across many cores. Game servers, build servers, CI runners and many databases work on one thread per request; there a high clock speed beats more cores. If you run dozens of VMs or containers side by side, look at AMD EPYC.

Yes. The main loop of a Minecraft server runs on one thread, so clock speed determines how many players and chunks it keeps up with. With a panel like Pterodactyl you run several servers on one machine; we install it on request.

Our Ryzen servers run DDR4 memory without ECC. If you need ECC, for a database that must never see a bit flip for instance, pick an Intel Xeon or AMD EPYC.
