Who it is for
Who chooses a .pro?
A .pro is meant for professionals who present themselves under their own name: an independent consultant, a photographer, a physiotherapist, a translator or another specialist. Your name plus .pro reads like a business card, and the chance that your own name is still available is greater than under .com.
For a company with a brand name or for an online shop the extension adds little; there a .com or your country's own extension is easier to recognise.
