Why the Netherlands

Why a dedicated server in the Netherlands?

Location is more than a flag on a map. It decides which network carries your traffic, how short the path to your visitors is, and which law your data falls under.

Dutch data centres

Your server lives at BIT in Ede or at Greenhouse in Naaldwijk, both on Dutch soil. The network core sits at two Amsterdam sites, NorthC and NIKHEF, so a single failure does not take the network down. Your data stays in the Netherlands, under Dutch and EU law.

Our own network, not a resold line

Your traffic runs over our own AS211588. That network connects to five transit providers and sits on six internet exchanges: ERA-IX, NL-ix, Frys-IX, Speed-IX, nine and 1-IX EU, with ports of up to 100 Gbit/s. On top of that we peer directly with more than 600 other networks.

Short paths, low latency

Because of that direct peering, traffic to Dutch, Belgian and German providers crosses the exchange directly, without a detour through a transit network abroad. Fewer hops means lower latency and fewer places where things can go wrong. You can check your exact path yourself on bgp.tools.

Bandwidth: fair use at the 95th percentile

A dedicated server gets a 1 or 10 Gbit/s uplink and no "unlimited" that gets throttled later. We measure your traffic continuously and drop the top five percent of samples: a peak costs you nothing, only structurally high usage counts. The limit is agreed per situation.

Our core sits in Amsterdam, on six internet exchanges including ERA-IX, NL-ix and Frys-IX, with ports of up to 100 Gbit/s. We also help you set up your own transit connection.

IPv6 from day one

Every server comes with an IPv4 address and a /56 IPv6, in every data centre. Need more? You get a /48.
