Explainer Dedicated servers

Which dedicated servers are there and how do I request a quote?

How the four families of dedicated servers compare, and how to ask our sales team for a quote on a custom configuration.

By Hermie Updated

planetnode.net/en/dedicated lists four families of dedicated servers, with current prices. If none of them fits exactly, you ask sales for a quote on a custom configuration.

A dedicated server is bare metal: a physical server that is yours alone. It runs on our own network (AS211588) in the Netherlands. On the site you choose between Ede and Naaldwijk.

The four families

Family Suited for
AMD EPYC Many cores, for virtualisation and databases
Intel Xeon Proven server platform, with ECC and VT-x/VT-d
High frequency AMD Ryzen with a high clock speed
Refurbished Good hardware given a second life

Every server has a 1 or 10 Gbit/s uplink. You get ECC memory and NVMe storage on the families that offer them; the page shows this per server.

Prices on the site are shown excluding VAT, with the price including VAT below.

Request a custom quote

  1. Open a ticket for sales. Not sure which department? See opening a ticket and choosing the right department.
  2. Describe what you need. Sales always asks about:
    • CPU
    • RAM
    • storage
    • port speed
    • the number of IP addresses
    • whether you need BGP
  3. Sales sends you a quote.

You also agree with sales how your server's traffic is billed. See How is my dedicated server's traffic billed?

Delivery time

A dedicated server is usually ready for you within 2 to 3 working days.

More than one IP address?

You get one IPv4 address as standard. You request more addresses or an IPv6 block separately. See How do I request extra IPv4 or IPv6 addresses?
