Plans for game servers

Four sizes, from a server for a group of friends to several servers side by side. When you buy an X4 or larger, we install Pterodactyl free of charge, the panel you manage your game servers with.

Choose by memory: for game servers that is the limit you hit first. Torn between two sizes? Start smaller; you can upgrade later.

All sizes, including X2 and X32, are on VPS hosting in the Netherlands. Looking for a VPS in Amsterdam? Read about VPS hosting in Amsterdam. Need Windows? See Windows VPS hosting.

What you run on it

One VPS, several servers

On a VPS you are not tied to one game or one server. You install what you want and divide the resources yourself.

Game servers of your choice

A survival world for friends like the one you know from Minecraft, a shooter, a sandbox or a game that just came out: if a server build exists, it runs on your VPS. We do not dictate a list of supported games.

Several servers side by side

Divide CPU and memory over several servers yourself, for instance through Pterodactyl. A second world or a second game is a new container, not a new order.

Bots and tools

A Discord bot, a status page, a backup script or a voice server runs on the same machine. You have root, so you decide what runs alongside your game servers.

A website or database alongside

A website for your community, a database for statistics or a web panel for your players: all on one VPS, without a second hosting plan.

Gaming VPS or game hosting

When a VPS, when managed game hosting?

Managed game hosting gives you one server in a panel; we manage the machine. On a VPS you get the whole machine and manage it yourself. Here is how to choose.

Feature Gaming VPS Managed game hosting
Number of servers As many as the resources allow One per plan
Access Root on the operating system Panel per server
Who manages the machine You PlanetNode
Panel Pterodactyl, free from X4 Included
Other software alongside —
Play right after ordering —
Best for Those who want to set things up themselves and run several servers Those who want one server without management

Why here

What a game server asks of a VPS

Most game servers use a single core for the game world. Extra cores help less than you would hope; a high clock speed helps a lot. That is why our VPS plans run on AMD Ryzen 9 5900X with a clock speed of up to 4.3 GHz, with DDR4 ECC memory and NVMe storage for fast world files and backups.

Need more than a VPS? See our high-frequency dedicated servers: bare metal with the same clock speed.

High-frequency dedicated servers
  • AMD Ryzen 9 5900X with a clock speed of up to 4.3 GHz
  • DDR4 ECC memory, NVMe storage
  • Our own network AS211588 with direct peering to Dutch, Belgian and German ISPs
  • Full root access, your own choice of Linux distribution
  • Pterodactyl installed free of charge from X4
  • No setup fees, cancel monthly
  • Hosted in the Netherlands on our own network, with sites in Amsterdam, Ede and Naaldwijk

Frequently asked questions about a gaming VPS

With managed game hosting you get one server in a panel and we manage the machine. On a VPS you get root and run as many servers as the resources allow, but you manage it yourself: updates, backups and installing the game.

Yes, free of charge from an X4. Order the free add-on with your VPS or open a ticket; we then take care of installing the panel.

That depends on the game and the number of players. For a small server with friends an X4 is common; for modpacks, large worlds or several servers side by side you pick an X8 or larger. A detailed guide per player count and modpack is on our page about how much RAM a game server needs.

Yes, that is the whole point of a VPS. Divide CPU and memory yourself, for instance through Pterodactyl, and add a server without ordering a new plan.

Yes. You have root on the machine, so a website, a Discord bot or a database runs alongside. Just keep in mind that they share memory with your game servers.

In the Netherlands, on our own network AS211588 with sites in Amsterdam, Ede and Naaldwijk. For players in the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany, traffic reaches their ISP through direct peering.

How much memory a server needs per player count is on how much RAM does a server need. Prefer a whole machine? See the high-frequency dedicated servers.
