Several servers, your own panel or root access

A virtual machine with root. You install Java, your servers and optionally Pterodactyl yourself, and split the memory the way you want: a lobby, a survival world and a creative server on one VPS.

Dedicated server

Networks, many players or heavy modpacks

The whole machine is yours, with no virtualisation and no neighbours. For a network with a proxy and several backends, dozens of concurrent players, or modpacks that need lots of memory and a fast CPU core.

For Minecraft, speed per core matters more than the number of cores: one server runs its heaviest work on a single thread. So look at the high-frequency family first; EPYC and Xeon are the choice when you want many servers side by side.

Root access, your choice of software

Paper, Purpur, Forge, Fabric, Velocity or BungeeCord: you install what you want, in the version you want, with the Java version that goes with it.

When you want several servers, your own panel or root access. For one server with friends a Minecraft plan is cheaper and simpler: it is ready in our panel right away and there is no operating system to manage.

Yes, on request. On a VPS from X4 and on a dedicated server we do the installation free of charge; request it through a ticket or order the add-on with your plan.

That depends on memory and CPU. Use the rule of thumb from our RAM guide per server and keep memory free for the operating system and the panel. A proxy such as Velocity or BungeeCord needs little itself.

We apply fair use, measured at the 95th percentile; you get neither a fixed bundle nor a promise without limit. For a Minecraft server or network, fair use is generous in practice; how we measure is explained on our fair-use page.

Yes. You move your worlds, plugins and configuration to the new machine; our migration guide helps. The other way round works too, if a dedicated server turns out to be more than you need.
