How do I install a modpack on my Minecraft server?

You put a modpack on your server with that modpack's server files: the mods and settings without the parts players only need on their own PC. For a Fabric modpack you do this yourself; for a Forge or NeoForge modpack we help you via a ticket.

What you need

• A plan that includes mods. Large modpacks need a lot of memory; the modpack page usually says how much.
• The modpack's server files. On CurseForge they are under Files as Server Pack. On Modrinth they are sometimes with the versions or on the creator's website.
• An SFTP client. Modpacks consist of many files; SFTP is the easiest way.

Which mod loader does the modpack use?

The modpack page says whether it uses Fabric, Forge or NeoForge, and which Minecraft version it is for.

• Fabric: follow the steps below.
• Forge or NeoForge: open a ticket with the modpack's name and version, and we will set it up.

Install a Fabric modpack

1. Download the modpack's server files and unzip them on your computer.
2. Stop your server in the game panel.
3. Put the server on Fabric for the right Minecraft version. Follow the Install Fabric part of How do I install mods on my Minecraft server?
4. Connect with SFTP and delete the old mods and config folders, if they exist.
5. Upload the folders from the unzipped modpack to your server's main folder, usually mods, config and sometimes defaultconfigs or kubejs.
6. Choose the Java version for the modpack's Minecraft version.
7. Start your server. The first start of a modpack takes longer than usual.

Let players join

Players install the same modpack, in the same version, with the CurseForge app or the Modrinth App. Then they join as usual via your server's address.
