How do I set a seed for my Minecraft server?

How to set a seed for your Minecraft server with level-seed in server.properties and generate a new world with that seed.

A seed decides which world Minecraft generates. You enter the seed at level-seed in server.properties. It only applies to a new world, so you reset the world afterwards.

What you need

A seed: a number or text. You can find seeds on sites like Chunkbase, or use the seed of your own world. In singleplayer, /seed shows it.
The same Minecraft version the seed was meant for. The same seed often gives a different world in another version.

Set a seed

Note

To use the new seed, your current world has to go. Make a backup first.

Log in to the game panel, open your server and stop it with Stop.
Go to Files and open server.properties.
Find the line level-seed= and put your seed after it, without spaces:

level-seed=123456789

Click Save Content.
Delete the world folders world, world_nether and world_the_end. Select them with the checkboxes and click Delete.
Start your server with Start.

Check

Join your server and type /seed (as OP), or seed in the console. It shows the seed you set.

Other world types

For a flat or amplified world, also change level-type:

`minecraft:amplified`	Extremely high mountains; demanding for your server
